As our Finance Manager, you will lead and manage our Financial Services function, promoting efficiency, high performance, probity, and excellent value for money services. In this capacity, you will act as the Deputy Section 151 Officer, serve as the technical lead, and support the delivery of our Transformation Agenda.

You will work under the guidance of the Chief Officer Finance & Performance, assisting in the operation and development of all financial activities within the Council. This includes playing a key role in delivering service transformation, driving efficiency and productivity improvements, and optimising income opportunities to contribute towards achieving financial self-sufficiency.

The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified member of one of the five accountancy institutes (CCAB or CIMA) with demonstrable experience in a strategic finance role within the Public Sector, preferably Local Government. You should have a deep understanding of the political structure and environment within Local Government, as well as competence in using financial management systems to produce budget reports, annual accounts, and financial statements in accordance with the CIPFA Accounting Code of Practice.

In addition, you should possess sound knowledge and experience of local government accounting relating to relevant Accounting Codes of Practice, Statutory requirements, and grant regimes. Familiarity with current legislation, including Housing Revenue Account, Capital Accounting, and Treasury Management, is also essential.

We are seeking an innovative leader who can drive the transformation of service delivery, including project management of cross-team initiatives. Your ability to think creatively and develop effective solutions will be crucial in this role.
