Senior Social Worker Job Description

Sanctuary Personnel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Safeguarding Team in Northamptonshire. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing a complex caseload, providing support and guidance to individuals, children, carers, and families, and ensuring their safety and well-being.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage a complex caseload, including individuals, children, carers, and families, and provide support and guidance to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Use professional judgment to assess risk and accountability in decision-making and ensure that a proportionate assessment is completed in a way that enables maximum participation.
  • Employ a range of interventions to promote independence, provide support and protection, take preventative action, and ensure safety while balancing rights and risks.
  • Take the lead in managing positive interventions that prevent deterioration in health and wellbeing while safeguarding people at risk of abuse or neglect.
  • Undertake assessment and planning for safeguarding in more complex cases and support colleagues by utilizing safeguarding skills in line with current policies and procedures.
  • Play a leading role in practice development, help promote and sustain a learning culture, and mentor less experienced staff.
  • Deliver formal professional reflective supervision and provide guidance and advice regarding casework to less experienced qualified staff.
  • Take the role of practice educator or train as a practice educator for students and the role of ASYE assessor and supervisor for newly qualified social workers in the team.
  • Provide support with personal and professional development as part of the supervision and appraisal process.
  • Take responsibility for clear recording of analysis and judgments, maintaining up-to-date case work records on the database as required.
  • Work within the Directorate's data protection policies.
Requirements:
  • CQSW, DipSW, BA Social Work, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Management qualification at least at Level 4.
  • At least 1 year's experience of supervising professional staff.
  • Knowledge of relevant childcare legislation.
  • Ability to travel independently to all required areas by the job's responsibilities.
