Salary: £30,000 per annum

The Family Assessment Centre Deputy Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the care and placement of children and young people. This position involves assisting the Manager in achieving the goals outlined in the Statement of Purpose, overseeing staff, and working directly with children and young people when necessary. Key responsibilities include allocating key workers, ensuring staff understand and implement child placement plans, and attending care reviews and planning meetings.

Key Responsibilities:
* Allocate each young person a key worker to provide support and guidance throughout their stay.
* Ensure all staff understand and implement each child’s placement plan, ensuring a smooth transition and optimal outcomes.
* Attend care reviews and planning meetings to provide information and ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
* Engage directly with young people, acting as a positive role model and providing emotional support when needed.
* Develop consultation systems for young people’ feedback on care quality, promoting transparency and accountability.
* Maintain accurate records for monitoring and evaluation, tracking progress and identifying areas for improvement.
* Facilitate children’ meetings and consultations, ensuring their voices are heard and valued.
* Act as an appropriate adult in PACE interviews, providing support and guidance to children and young people during sensitive situations.
* Assist in recruiting, training, and retaining staff, ensuring the team is equipped to provide high-quality care.
* Supervise and support new starters during probation, helping them to settle into their roles and become confident members of the team.
* Plan and oversee shifts, ensuring smooth operations and effective communication among staff.
* Provide daily advice and 1:1 supervision aligned with National Minimum Standards, ensuring staff are knowledgeable and confident in their roles.
* Identify staff training needs and conduct annual appraisals, promoting personal and professional development within the team.
* Support personal and professional development of staff, recognizing individual strengths and areas for growth.
* Ensure compliance with the Home’s policies and National Standards, maintaining a safe and supportive environment for children and young people.
* Oversee maintenance of company vehicles and facilities, ensuring they meet the needs of the team and the organization.

Requirements:
* NVQ 3 in caring for Children and Young People (or equivalent).
* Knowledge of National Minimum Standards, Children Act, and relevant legislation.
* Strong team building, supervision, and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and young people from diverse backgrounds.
