  4. Youth Engagement: Foster self-awareness, confidence, and active involvement in the design and evaluation of young carers' services, empowering them to shape and influence the support they receive.
  5. Awareness Raising and Outreach: Engage in targeted outreach and awareness activities with other agencies, delivering presentations, workshops, and events to increase identification of young carers and promote partnership working.
  6. Partnership Working: Collaborate proactively with educational settings, adult services, and other relevant agencies to ensure ongoing support for young carers, particularly during transition periods, enabling them to continue education, employment, or training.
  7. Networks and Forums: Support the development and facilitation of young carers' networks and forums, ensuring their voices are heard and valued, and influencing service design and delivery.
  8. Safeguarding: Ensure adherence to Essex County Council's policies, procedures, and practice for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with a relevant professional qualification focused on working with young people (e.g., LDSS, Social Work, Youth and Community, Teacher, Careers), or demonstrably equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Proven experience of working with children and/or young people, demonstrating ability to take responsibility for lone working and managing calendar/working hours.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Flexible approach to meeting young people's needs; broad understanding of issues affecting young carers and young people; experience of working with young people on a one-to-one basis and in groups; excellent communication skills, with experience in effective collaborative working with local agencies.
