Teaching Assistant Opportunity in Autism Support

Blooming Tree Primary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support children with Autism in their educational journey.

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm (37.5 hours per week)
  • Term-time only (39 weeks per year)
  • Wage: £6.40 per hour

This role offers a comprehensive training program to equip you with the necessary skills to support children with Autism. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced staff to develop and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of ILPs and EHCPs
  • Support classroom activities and interventions based on evidence-based practices
  • Establish supportive relationships with children, serving as a role model
  • Adapt learning resources and strategies to ensure access to the full curriculum
  • Motivate and challenge pupils, promoting self-esteem
  • Attend to personal, social, health, and hygiene needs of pupils
  • Collaborate with parents and teachers to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Record and monitor pupils' progress and provide feedback

Requirements:

  • GCSE or equivalent (Functional skills) English (Grade 4) essential
  • GCSE or equivalent (Functional skills) Maths (Grade 4) essential
