Executive Head Chef

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Executive Head Chef to lead our culinary team at Northumbria University. As a key member of our senior team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our culinary strategy, managing a high-performing team, and driving continuous improvement across our campus outlets, hospitality, and events.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement a comprehensive culinary strategy, aligning with our company's vision and values.
- Lead and manage a talented team of chefs, providing coaching, guidance, and support to ensure exceptional performance.
- Collaborate with our marketing and contract teams to develop engaging events, pop-ups, and interactive cooking sessions that showcase our culinary expertise.
- Source high-quality ingredients, working closely with suppliers and central team colleagues to ensure the best products and availability for our menus.
- Work with our hospitality and events teams to develop and deliver exceptional commercial conference menus and event experiences.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized kitchen environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures and regulations.
- Manage people performance, absence, and reward, working closely with our HR administrator.
- Develop and implement an apprenticeship program, providing opportunities for staff development and growth.
- Produce rosters and rotas in advance, using Our Time to process schedules and payroll.
- Ensure waste management solutions are implemented and followed, reducing waste across all areas and achieving budgeted GP targets.
- Use Symphony to analyze sales, trends, and volumes, making recommendations to our contract director on changes that benefit the business.
- Expert culinary skills, with a minimum NVQ Level 3 in professional cookery or equivalent.
- Experience in a Head or Executive Chef role, with a proven track record of leadership and team management.
- Minimum Intermediate food hygiene/Level 3 certification.
- Influential leadership skills, able to inspire and motivate others.
- Business management skills, with experience working to budgets, targets, and deadlines.
- A pragmatic, organized, and collaborative approach to work.
- A full, clean UK driving license.
