Job Summary

Oxford Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our clinical research team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering the Feeling Safer intervention, a new six-month guided online programme for the treatment of persecutory delusions. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of experienced professionals who are passionate about improving outcomes for patients with psychosis.

Main Responsibilities

Deliver the Feeling Safer intervention to patients with persecutory delusions, under the close supervision of a clinical psychologist. Work collaboratively with the research team to ensure the successful delivery of the study. Engage with patients having experiences such as paranoia, hearing voices, anxiety, and depression, and provide them with a safe and supportive environment to work through their issues. Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals. Attend regular supervision and research team meetings to ensure that you are up to date with the latest developments in the study and to share your experiences and expertise with the team. Contribute to the development of the study protocol and ensure that it is implemented in a way that is consistent with the NHS Trust's policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Qualified through experience as a 'service user' with personal experience of psychosis or bipolar disorder or severe depression, and experience of using mental health services.
  • Working with patients diagnosed with psychosis.
  • Knowledge of psychological approaches to psychosis.
  • Ability to engage patients having experiences such as paranoia, hearing voices, anxiety, and depression.
