Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior CAMHS Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive assessments and interventions to children, young people, and their families in a variety of settings.

Main Responsibilities
  • Clinical Duties
    • Conduct full clinical assessments of children, young people, and their families referred to CAMHS, including weekend and evening shifts.
    • Manage a clinical caseload, comprising assessments and ongoing direct therapeutic interventions to children, young people, and their parents/carers.
    • Collaborate with other agencies, social services, and education to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people.
  • Professional Development
    • Participate in regular appraisals and personal development review processes.
    • Maintain and develop own professional skills and knowledge, undertaking all mandatory training and continuing professional development.
    • Ensure professional registration is current and maintain a high level of professional appearance at all times.
  • Managerial Responsibilities
    • Ensure agreed assessments and therapeutic work are undertaken within national and local target times.
    • Undertake Performance and Development Review (PDR) meetings with junior staff.
    • Provide caseload management/supervision to junior staff.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Qualifications
    • Registered professional qualification in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, OT, or other equivalent qualification.
  • Experience
    • Relevant post-qualifying experience of working within children and families.
    • Significant post-registered qualification experience with children, adolescents, and families in the area of mental health.
    • Evidence of experience working in a community setting as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    • Evidence of carrying out comprehensive assessments and care plans.
    • Evidence of collaborative working with other services.
    • Evidence of experience and/or training in supervising staff.
  • Personal Qualities
    • Evidence of ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
    • Evidence of ability to work as an effective member of a team.
    • Evidence of ability to work under pressure.
    • Evidence of ability to exercise a high level of judgment and decision-making.
    • Evidence of ability to prioritize work appropriately.
    • Evidence of awareness to extend knowledge and personal development.
    • Evidence of ability to collaborate effectively within and across services.
    • Evidence of ability to adapt to changing environments.
    • Evidence of car ownership/driver or access to a suitable alternative transport to enable the role.
