About the Role:

In this exciting opportunity with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Public Health Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Manager of Substance Use Prevention & Harm Reduction, you will play a key role in supporting departmental program delivery, project management, and quality assurance.

The successful candidate will provide direction, supervision, and consultation to staff to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to policies, procedures, and legislative standards. You will also coordinate activities related to the Windsor-Essex Community Opioid and Substance Strategy and aid in the development, implementation, and maintenance of operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing support to management in providing counselling and mentoring to staff and acting as a resource for program-specific enquiries;
  • Supervising and directing staff to ensure they are meeting their responsibilities effectively;
  • Coordinating community partnerships and events to promote public health initiatives;
  • Aiding in the preparation and drafting of new policies and procedures;
  • Supporting the development of program plans, interventions, and procedures;
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to provide information on substance use issues;
  • Writing proposals and reports to secure funding and evaluate program effectiveness;

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in public health, health promotion, health sciences, or a related field from an accredited school. Minimum 5 years' experience working in public health, community health, or a related field. Previous supervisory experience and training in project management are assets.
