Job Description

**Job Title:** Outdoor Education Specialist

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Outdoor Education Specialist to join our team at Elementa Support Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic and pastoral support to students with Social Emotional Mental health (SEMH) needs.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students to enable them to overcome any barriers to achievement.
  • Liaise with teaching staff to help plan and develop appropriate resources to enable young people to fully access all activities and make good progress.
  • Liaise with support staff and teachers to share strategies for support.
  • Work as part of the team that responds to challenging behaviour.
  • Provide information, advice and structured support to enable students to make positive choices about their behaviour, attendance and social interactions.
  • Assist in developing strong links between the school and families in order to improve educational opportunities for students and to promote a positive attitude towards school.
  • Comply with confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
  • Contribute to the monitoring, recording and analysis of the welfare and daily experiences of our young people.
  • Model high standards and be a positive participant in a culture of sharing good practice amongst all staff.
  • Contribute to the system of whole school rewards.
  • Support young people to develop a wider educational, social and cultural understanding of life.
  • Monitor the individual health needs of young people and communicate those needs to other staff as appropriate.

**Requirements:**

  • Experience as an Outdoor Education Teacher or Forest School Leader.
  • Ability to work with students with SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
