Job Title: Adult Care Senior Lawyer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Lawyer to join our Contracts team at Staffordshire County Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality services to our Council clients and external organisations.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct legal case work, including drafting and vetting contracts, and providing advice on procurement law, subsidy control, and contract law.
  • Draft, negotiate, and complete commercial contracts and tender documentation for goods, works, equipment, and services.
  • Provide robust client-focused advice on contract standing orders, financial regulations, and other applicable legal and practical constraints.
  • Offer legal procurement advice on sourcing, establishing, registering, incorporating, using, and running legal and corporate vehicles.
  • Draft, vet, and assist in negotiating documentation arising from the choice of legal vehicle, such as constitutions, terms of reference, objects, and articles of association.
  • Undertake legal research and provide advice on general contract matters, including procurement and state aid.
  • Provide advice on corporate vehicle options and draft associated documentation.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of relevant local authority governance considerations, including Contract Standing Orders, financial regulations, and committee procedures.
  • Work with minimal supervision and confidently supervise other staff within the team.
