Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Additive Manufacturing Team Leader to join our team at Red Bull Formula 1. As a key member of our Additive Manufacturing department, you will be responsible for the management of the AM group and for all the output from the AM group, ensuring it is fit-for-purpose and delivered in a timely fashion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clear understanding of the priorities of the aero development programme.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders of the Planning & Production activities to ensure good communication in both directions on matters of priority, feasibility, and timescales.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all Additive Manufacturing machines within the aerodynamics department.
  • Plan & programme builds across all AM equipment, including SLA machines.
  • Coordinate and manage a group of Additive Manufacturing Technicians, discussing & setting the group's work planning and priorities.
  • Responsible for training AM group staff to ensure their continued development and increase group capability, to include mentoring of more junior staff members.
  • Oversee that all staff are correctly trained in relevant Health & Safety matters.
  • Perform regular performance reviews & feedback sessions with AM staff.
  • Grow / develop the group by working with the Head of Aero Operations on recruitment and group structure.
  • Identify areas of strength & weakness in the group, and liaise with Head of Aero Operations and HR to suggest and define actions to continually raise standards and capability.
  • Coordinate activities with the Head of Model Shop to enhance and maximise aerodynamics production resources.
  • Ensure that all Additive Manufacturing equipment used within the department is maintained to the highest standards to ensure optimum performance, reliability, and safety, using a combination of in-house skills and external resource.
  • Investigate & advise on new technologies of hardware, materials, and processes to improve the capabilities of the department or to meet changing needs.
  • Troubleshoot & resolve issues with AM equipment.
  • Deal professionally with external suppliers to ensure the highest level of co-operation from business-critical relationships.
  • Take responsibility for any assigned Faults to ensure that resolutions are identified and implemented quickly.
  • Oversee all Health & Safety requirements for the Additive Manufacturing area, ensuring that Risk Assessments are kept up-to-date.
  • Work with design team members to develop best-practice in designing for manufacture.
  • Work in a professional manner at all times regardless of the task set and be pro-active in promoting a positive image for the department / team.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience of managing an Additive Manufacturing department in a fast-paced motorsport or similar environment.
  • In-depth technical understanding of additive manufacturing processes, equipment and materials.
  • Demonstrable leadership and staff-development skills.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex production-related projects on time and at the required quality.
  • Initiative & innovation.
  • Fluent with English.
  • Detailed understanding of industrial-grade SLA machine technology and how to optimise usage.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
