Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Team Leader to join our team at Wrightbus. As a key member of our manufacturing engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of processes and methods to improve manufacturing safety, quality, velocity, and cost.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the manufacturing engineering team to identify and eliminate waste within the manufacturing process and develop plans to reduce/eliminate it to improve the cost competitiveness of the business.
  • Support the manufacturing engineering team and operational management in the implementation of lean tools and techniques within the manufacturing and support functions.
  • Coordinate the internal flow and introduction of new product lines into manufacture, focusing on impact changes to manpower, materials, equipment, and factory layout to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Responsible for workshop layouts and efficiency/effectiveness.
  • Lead the manufacturing engineering team to offer product support on a daily basis, utilizing problem-solving techniques.
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes are safe and capable of achieving and maintaining the required quality standards.
  • Determine, improve, and sustain workflows that realize seamless manufacture of goods.
  • Manage projects and liaise with a range of stakeholders to deliver excellence in safety, quality, flow, and competitiveness.
  • Ensure product process maps are in the most optimum and up-to-date condition.
  • Effectively coordinate the achievement of Standard Time improvement by product model, requiring time in motion studies to be carried out.
  • Method and work study, including direct time study, to establish standard work packages, and line balance.
Requirements
  • HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline, or 5 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in an engineering environment, problem-solving techniques on a production line, and leading projects.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel, 3D modeling experience, Sage or IFS experience (MRP), understanding of engineering drawings, knowledge of tooling and jigging.
  • Strong team player, good interpersonal skills, good communication skills, self-motivated, and good organizational skills, in particular time and task management.
  • Flexible and adaptable, willing to take on business travel, and willing to work overtime as required.
Desirable
  • HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
  • Line balancing and process improvements.
  • Experience introducing engineering change within a large organization.
  • Hands-on experience/time served.
  • Experience in leading projects.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of fabrication/welding technology.
  • Knowledge of chassis driveline or automotive experience.
  • Knowledge of new factory setup.
  • Design of jigs and tooling.
  • Desire to continually learn more and improve as an engineer.
  • Acceptance to work outside of comfort zone at times.
