Role Overview

We are in search of a highly driven and skilled Additive Manufacturing Team Leader. This pivotal role involves overseeing the Additive Manufacturing (AM) group, ensuring that all outputs meet the required standards and are delivered promptly. You will also be responsible for the effective maintenance and utilization of all machinery and equipment to satisfy departmental needs, while ensuring that AM personnel receive the necessary training to excel in their roles. Additionally, you will oversee compliance with all Health & Safety regulations within the Additive Manufacturing Group.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Planning

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the priorities within the aerodynamic development program.
  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders involved in Planning & Production to ensure effective communication regarding priorities, feasibility, and timelines.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all Additive Manufacturing machinery within the aerodynamics department.
  • Plan and schedule builds across all AM equipment, including SLA machines.

Team Management

  • Coordinate and manage a team of Additive Manufacturing Technicians, setting work plans and priorities.
  • Facilitate training for AM group staff to promote their development and enhance group capabilities, including mentoring junior team members.
  • Ensure all staff are adequately trained in relevant Health & Safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and feedback sessions with AM personnel.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Aero Operations on recruitment and team structure to grow and develop the group.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses within the team, liaising with the Head of Aero Operations and HR to propose actions that elevate standards and capabilities.
  • Coordinate activities with the Head of Model Shop to optimize aerodynamics production resources.

Equipment Maintenance & Technology Advancement

  • Ensure that all Additive Manufacturing equipment is maintained to the highest standards for optimal performance, reliability, and safety, utilizing both in-house expertise and external resources.
  • Research and recommend new technologies, materials, and processes to enhance departmental capabilities or address evolving needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AM equipment.

General Responsibilities

  • Engage professionally with external suppliers to ensure strong cooperation in business-critical relationships.
  • Take ownership of assigned issues to ensure swift identification and implementation of resolutions.
  • Oversee all Health & Safety requirements for the Additive Manufacturing area, ensuring that Risk Assessments are consistently updated.
  • Collaborate with design team members to establish best practices for manufacturing.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times, promoting a positive image for the department, team, and sponsors.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience managing an Additive Manufacturing department in a high-paced motorsport or similar setting.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of additive manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials.
  • Demonstrated leadership and staff development capabilities.
  • Proven success in delivering complex production-related projects on schedule and to the required quality standards.
  • Strong initiative and innovative mindset.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Comprehensive understanding of industrial-grade SLA machine technology and optimization techniques.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and robust project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
