About the Role
Abcam is seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our in-house manufacturing team in Cambridge on a 12 month fixed term contract. As a key member of the Purification & Conjugation team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of purification techniques and preparing antibody and peptide conjugates to a broad range of labels.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the team in their lab work, ensuring that all production work is carried out to high quality standards.
- Carry out purification and conjugation processes to deliver completed experiments in line with production schedules.
- Develop effective relationships across a variety of different teams within Abcam.
- Ensure compliance with Quality policies, SOPs and Health and Safety procedures.
- Contribute to the housekeeping tasks within the Purification & Conjugation Lab areas.
- Keep stakeholders informed and up-to-date by sharing all relevant information and take part in cross team discussions, including presenting data to stakeholders and influencing outcomes through actions.
Requirements
You will have a degree in biological sciences or equivalent practical experience within a laboratory with the ability to use life science laboratory techniques. You understand the fundamental science behind protein purification (Affinity, SEC, IEX, HIC) and conjugation techniques. You will have experience in pipetting and some materials handling in a lab environment and able to work to deadlines.
You have the ability to work precisely and to follow both written and verbal instructions whilst maintaining accurate and detailed records together with excellent communication skills. You are an enthusiastic team player, highly self-motivated, hardworking, have excellent organizational capabilities and deliver results consistently to a high-standard in a fast-paced environment. Any experience using AKTA chromatography systems, including Unicorn method writing/ editing would be an advantage.
