Job Description

**Job Title:** Community Shop Manager - Retail Operations Lead

**Job Summary:** We are seeking an experienced and motivated Community Shop Manager to lead our retail operations and community engagement efforts at Spitalfields Crypt Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of staff and volunteers, driving sales and engagement, and developing a comprehensive community program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the community shop, including staff and volunteer management, inventory control, and customer service.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive sales and engagement, including visual merchandising, marketing, and community outreach.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local community agencies and organizations to promote opportunities for vulnerable individuals.
  • Collaborate with the Community Recovery Team to provide support and resources to individuals in need.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the work of Spitalfields Crypt Trust and its mission.
  • Represent the organization at external meetings and events.
  • Abide by the policies and procedures of Spitalfields Crypt Trust.

Requirements:

  • Commercial retail management experience, preferably in a charity or non-profit setting.
  • Experience in recruiting and managing volunteers.
  • Demonstrable and proven communication skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Experience of leading successful teams.
  • Experience of working with donated goods.
  • Charity shop background.

Person Specification:

  • Retail background.
  • People management skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Good IT skills (including MS Office and email).
  • Able to use own initiative.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding the range of issues that can make an individual vulnerable to addiction and/or homelessness.
  • Empathetic with those experiencing addiction and/or homelessness.

Working Hours: The successful candidate will be required to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and occasional evenings.

Location: The community shop is located in the heart of East London, with easy access to public transportation.
