About the Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to our residents. This will include assessing the needs of individual residents, organizing and providing nursing care to promote maximum independence, and supervising the care given by attendants and unregulated care providers.
Key Responsibilities
Actively participate in and contribute to the Quality Improvement Program.
Assess the needs of individual residents and organize for the provision of nursing care to promote maximum independence in conjunction with the resident services manager.
Carry out planned assignments and job routines for effective resident and tenant care, taking into account the physical, spiritual, social, and emotional needs of the individual.
Supervise the nursing care given by attendants and unregulated care providers or designated staff, in accordance with the resident care plans.
Provide direct resident/tenant care, in accordance with current and approved standards of care, policies, and procedures.
Maintain effective communication and good interpersonal relations with medical and allied staff, residents, tenants, families, and other departments.
Provide emergency medical assistance and summon appropriate intervention and notify family of the same.
Maintain accurate records of nursing observations and procedures performed.
Assist with safe keeping of all drugs and nursing solutions in the residence.
Participate in the development of and implementation of a plan of care for residents that supports independence as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
Supports and actively participates in unit orientation and completes applicable educational training.
Assist the resident services manager in evaluating the performance of the attendants and unregulated care providers; assists with appropriate documentation. Keeps the resident services manager informed of any staff members whose performance is less than satisfactory.
Administer medication in accordance with the College of Nurses standards as an added nursing skill and in compliance with the policies of Southbridge Care Homes.
Consult with tenants and residents and their families and/or physicians regarding the need for varied service interventions and/or referrals.
Records all charges for services on individual resident/tenant sheets.
Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in educational sessions and fire drills.
Performs other related duties as delegated by the Resident Services Manager.
