Job Title: Planning Policy Manager

We are seeking an experienced Planning Policy Manager to join our team on a 12-month maternity cover contract role.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in planning policy, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality policy documents and plans. They will lead a team of 4 Policy Officers to ensure that the new Local Plan and associated policy documents meet all statutory requirements, national and Council policies, and best practice.

The ideal candidate will have a good breadth of knowledge in policy development and a thorough understanding of UK planning legislation. They will be highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work effectively in a team environment.

The post is a contract role, which will run for 12 months, and our client is open to taking someone on either a fixed-term contract basis directly or as a contractor on a day rate via an Umbrella company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of 4 Policy Officers to deliver the new Local Plan and associated policy documents
  • Ensure that policy documents meet all statutory requirements, national and Council policies, and best practice
  • Develop and implement effective policy development strategies
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that policy documents meet their needs

Requirements:

  • Significant level of previous planning policy experience
  • Proven line management experience
  • Good breadth of knowledge in policy development
  • Thorough understanding of UK planning legislation
