Job Summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Town Planning Policy Manager to join their Planning Policy Team for an initial 10-month contract. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading a policy team through the examination process and coordinating work with Development Management and the general day-to-day running of the Planning Policy service.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 4 members, comprising 2 Principal Officers and 2 Senior Officers
  • Coordinate the preparation of site allocation documents for public examination
  • Develop and implement policy initiatives to support the council's planning objectives
  • Collaborate with Development Management to ensure effective policy implementation
  • Provide strategic guidance on policy development and implementation

Requirements

  • Proven experience in leading a policy team through examination
  • Strong understanding of planning policy and development management
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience in a London-based local authority is preferred

Working Arrangements

  • 2 days per week to be spent in the borough, ideally on Mondays and Thursdays
  • Good transport links available
