Job Title: Children's Community Nursing Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Children's Community Nursing Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. As a specialist nurse, you will provide expert care and support to children and young people with haemoglobinopathy diagnoses and their families.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the care of haemoglobinopathy patients, promoting good practice in diagnosis and management.
  • Act as a resource for patients' needs, ensuring an optimum level of service.
  • Work closely with network, hospital, and community staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Provide high-level communication skills for effective care planning within the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Embed patient and public involvement in specialist nursing practice.
  • Ensure patients and families are aware of treatment options, including clinical trials.
  • Work as a patient advocate, negotiating the patient journey and ensuring optimum care.
Requirements:

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate nurse with excellent clinical skills, communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously as a senior member of the multi-professional team. You will be a clinical expert, providing specialist paediatric haemoglobinopathy advice and contributing to service development.

You will be able to make informed decisions, develop and coordinate care, and work across organisational boundaries. You will also provide clinical leadership, promote nursing excellence in practice, and ensure that staff, patients, and the public are involved throughout the care process.
