This is an exciting opportunity to join Harrison Scott Associates as a Health and Safety Manager. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees and contractors, while also maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

About the Role

The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health and safety policies, procedures, and protocols. This will involve working closely with operational teams to identify and mitigate risks, developing and implementing effective controls, and monitoring performance against set targets.

Salary & Benefits

The salary for this role is approximately £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. We also offer a range of benefits including comprehensive training and professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive a Safety-First Culture">

The Health and Safety Manager will lead by example, promoting a safety-first culture across the organization. This will involve engaging with employees at all levels, providing guidance and support, and monitoring performance against set targets.

">Ensure Legislative Compliance">

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all statutory requirements are met, including those related to health and safety, employment law, and environmental protection. This will involve developing and implementing policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and providing training and guidance to employees.

">Maintain Safe Systems of Work">

The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining safe systems of work, including procedures for emergency response, incident reporting, and investigation. This will involve working closely with operational teams to identify and mitigate risks, and developing and implementing effective controls.

">Develop and Implement HSE Policies">

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and protocols. This will involve working closely with senior leaders, operational teams, and external stakeholders to ensure that all necessary policies and procedures are in place.

">Lead the H&S Team">

The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the H&S team, which includes the H&S Advisor and the Security Manager. This will involve providing guidance, support, and direction, as well as setting goals and objectives, and monitoring performance against set targets.

Requirements

  • Formal Qualifications">

The successful candidate will hold formal qualifications in Health and Safety to NEBOSH Diploma level, preferably with CMIOSH accreditation or working towards it.

">Experience">

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in health and safety, preferably in a complex industrial or manufacturing environment. They will have a strong understanding of health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

">Skills">

The successful candidate will possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility.
