About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a leading SEN college. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal development of our students with diverse and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored educational programs and activities, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities, communication and behavioural difficulties, and medical needs.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans (BSPs), promoting positive outcomes for our students.
  • Support students with daily living skills, personal care, and mobility as needed, fostering independence and confidence.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other staff to ensure holistic support for each student.
  • Monitor and record student progress, reporting to relevant staff members to inform future support strategies.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs, with a strong understanding of various disabilities and conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN, with a commitment to delivering high-quality support.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of students, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN (desirable but not essential).
