Supporting Students with Special Educational Needs

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a leading SEN college. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal development of our students with diverse and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored educational programs and activities.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities, communication and behavioural difficulties, and medical needs.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans (BSPs).
  • Support students with daily living skills, personal care, and mobility as needed.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to ensure holistic support for each student.
  • Monitor and record student progress and report to relevant staff members.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various disabilities and conditions such as PMLD, autism, and behaviours of concern.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of students.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN (desirable but not essential).
