About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team at Galliford Try Group within our Environment Business at ESD in Scotland. The ideal candidate will be based in Scotland and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the delivery of projects across the Water Frameworks, ensuring successful delivery of schemes of varying sizes, predominantly to the Water Industry, across both Treatment Waste and Water schemes, delivering both Design and Build.
  • Assume responsibility for the management of project delivery outputs, including subordinates, programme, financial position, health safety, environmental performance, and progress for all allocated schemes.
  • Have a good understanding of NEC contract conditions and an astute commercial awareness.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects across the Framework to ensure successful delivery of the projects against the project KPI's and PI's.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered in accordance with current Health & Safety regulations, including CDM regulations, and Environmental legislation.
  • Manage the project team, ensuring that each member has a clear set of objectives to follow and clear roles and responsibilities.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with the utilisation of the direct labour resources where possible across the projects.
  • Assume responsibility for the financial performance of the portfolio of projects, with overall responsibility for Profit/Loss on contracts under your control.
  • Produce project performance reports and participate in monthly financial/programme reviews for all schemes with the Commercial Manager, Head of Construction, and Regional Operations Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with all company commercial and financial procedures.
  • Complete contract documentation.
  • Establish and agree price variations and final accounts.
  • Prepare estimates and quotations and provide tender vetting for governance stages of the projects.
  • Ensure a detailed project programme, in conjunction with the project planner, ensuring that it is maintained to drive the project to key deliverable milestones.
  • Ascertain preliminary and detailed design/project requirements and solutions.
  • Take an active role in developing new opportunities within the Framework and take lead in pre-construction tenders to ensure project delivery has input into the tender process.
  • Co-ordinate and liaise with suppliers, specialist sub-contractors, in-house functions, site installations, and construction teams.
  • Ensure that Procurement of plant, materials, and specialist subcontractors is carried out in a timely manner and best value is achieved.
  • Ensure that project resources are made available to attend/undertake factory site and works testing, commissioning, and client training.
  • Ensure all contract documentation, such as 'As built' drawings, Commissioning Manuals, and Operation and Maintenance Manuals, are prepared in line with the client specifications and Galliford Try/client closeout timescales.
Requirements
  • IOSH or CITB 5 Day Site Safety Management (SMSTS) certification.
  • CSCS card.
  • Demonstrable experience of working within the water and/or sewage industries.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
  • Ability to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills (email/phone/face to face).
  • Ability to review options and be comfortable making the required decisions for the project's success.
