About the Role

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team. As a key member of the finance department, you will be responsible for handling various financial tasks, including banking reconciliation, purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, pensions, and VAT returns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Record Keeping: Utilize Sage software to record and organize financial transactions accurately.
  • Payroll and Pensions Processing: Handle payroll processing for employees, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • VAT Returns and CIS Reports: Generate and submit Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) reports as required.
  • Bank Statement Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile bank statements and accounts to maintain accuracy.
  • Financial Reporting: Collaborate with the finance team to prepare financial reports.
  • Effective Communication: Interact with clients and vendors regarding financial matters.
Requirements
  • Proven Experience: A demonstrated track record as a bookkeeper.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Sage Software (Essential).
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of payroll processing, VAT returns, and CIS reports (desirable).
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure precision in financial records.
  • Communication and Organizational Skills: Effective communication with team members, clients, and vendors.
  • Independence and Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Transportation: Own transport preferred (or a full clean driving license) due to occasional travel to other offices (expenses will be reimbursed).
