About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Marine Ecology Team Lead to drive our team's success and grow our portfolio of high-profile marine projects. As a key member of our dynamic Nature team, you'll be responsible for leading our team of specialized marine ecologists, working closely with marine EIA colleagues, and developing the marine ecology team.

This is an exceptional opportunity to showcase your technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills. You'll work on a diverse range of projects, from environmental impact assessments to licence applications, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Technical Expertise: Provide authoritative advice on marine ecological and consenting matters, directing inputs to various workstreams and deliverables across multiple projects.
  • Ensure Quality: Maintain the highest quality standards in deliverables, ensuring compliance with rigorous quality management procedures and excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Collaborate and Grow: Work with specialists in underwater acoustics, coastal processes, water scientists, and marine archaeologists to improve project outcomes, develop business opportunities, and lead client liaison efforts.
  • Mentorship and Project Management: Develop and train junior team members, creating a supportive environment for growth, while effectively managing resources, budgets, and reporting progress to clients.

  • Comprehensive Marine Ecological Expertise: Demonstrated experience in preparing and reviewing technical chapters, impact assessments, and associated licence applications.
  • Business Development Experience: Proven track record in preparing tenders, client presentations, and growing business opportunities.
  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with experience in line management and training junior team members.
