Youth Mental Health Professional

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Youth Mental Health Professional to join our Safeguarding and Pastoral Team. As a counsellor, you will work with children and adolescents to provide emotional support and guidance. The ideal candidate will have a post-graduate Diploma or Masters level in Counselling or Psychotherapy, specialising in working with children and adolescents.
The role involves providing one-to-one counselling services to students, supporting the school's Mental Health Lead, and coordinating in-school support from specialist mental health services. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing behaviour effectively to create a positive, calm, and purposeful climate for learning
- Providing counselling services to students and staff
- Coordinating in-school support from specialist mental health services
- Delivering group sessions or workshops and supporting related whole-school initiatives
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver mental health and wellbeing programs for students
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions for students
- Collaborate with teaching staff and other professionals to support student mental health
Requirements:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience working with children and adolescents in a mental health setting
- Strong knowledge of child development and adolescent psychology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people
- High levels of emotional intelligence and empathy
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and training
