Lead Strategic Growth and Planning at North Somerset Council

North Somerset Council is committed to delivering high-quality services to our community. As the Head of Planning, you will play a key role in shaping and supporting the delivery of sustainable growth and placemaking across North Somerset.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a Local Plan that responds to the expected shift in delivery while protecting quality of place and the special characteristics of North Somerset.
  • Design operational improvements and reform of our day-to-day planning and building control services to deliver high-quality and efficient customer-focused provision.
  • Manage Building Control and other regulatory services, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Deliver and infrastructure planning for strategic locations, working closely with stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience and achievement at a senior management level in a comparable organization, including robust financial, people, and performance management.
  • Excellent strategic leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to demonstrate these in a fast-paced environment.
  • A valid driving license and own transport, or alternative suitable method of travel.
