Position Overview

The successful candidate will oversee a Continuing Healthcare (CHC) clinical unit, ensuring effective management and operational excellence.

In collaboration with the CHC Review and Assessments Manager, the role entails supervising daily activities assigned to the clinical service line. It is imperative that the clinical team adheres to current statutory regulations, particularly The National Framework for NHS Continuing Healthcare and Funded Nursing Care, while aligning practices with the Good Practice Guidance revised 2012 and the Code of Professional Conduct NMC April 2015.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the team, including the formulation and management of the team's strategic plan, monitoring progress, and addressing risks and issues.
  • Engage with relevant departments within the Integrated Care Board (ICB).
  • Oversee case management for all age groups within Continuing Healthcare.
  • Take initiative in coordinating training, development, and recruitment efforts across the team.
  • This outline represents a summary of the tasks, responsibilities, and expected outcomes of the role. The job holder may be required to undertake additional duties as reasonably directed by their line manager.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • A degree in a relevant field or equivalent qualification, or substantial experience in a similar role.
  • Professional qualification in nursing, social work, or a related discipline.

Essential Experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of National Frameworks for Continuing Healthcare (CHC) for adults.
  • Experience in case management within CHC.
  • Proven leadership experience with a team of assessors.
  • Experience in handling complaints investigations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with NHS, Local Authority, and Independent Stakeholders.
  • Significant experience in navigating politically sensitive environments.
  • Membership in a relevant professional organization.
  • Experience in risk management and reporting.
  • Proficiency in drafting briefing documents and correspondence.
  • Experience in budget monitoring and business planning.
  • Background in a healthcare setting.

Desirable Experience

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Experience in coordinating projects in complex and challenging settings.

Desirable Knowledge

  • Understanding of public sector operations.
  • Familiarity with project management principles, techniques, and tools, such as Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project.
