About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Practitioner to join our Occupational Health team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As an Occupational Health Mental Health Specialist, you will play a vital role in promoting positive mental health in the workplace and advising managers on mental ill-health issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Raise awareness of mental health issues in the workplace
  • Update the bank of current self-help literature or online information
  • Refer to the multidisciplinary team within Occupational Health and other outside agencies/GP where necessary
  • Provide short-term intervention only
  • Provide training on mental health issues in the workplace, complementing current and future planned provision
  • Advise managers on mental health issues in the workplace and on the management of individual cases where employees are on long-term sickness or have persistent short-term absence
  • Work proactively undertaking group work with departments who have high sickness absence levels due to mental health issues

Person Specification

  • NMC or HCPC qualified practitioner working in acute mental health services
  • Counselling
  • Significant post-registration experience within varied different settings
  • Ability to identify and assess needs of service users in relation to mental health and work
  • Be able to demonstrate effective workload management skills
  • Knowledge of mental health act 1983
  • Report writing
