Job Summary

This role is pivotal in delivering a high-quality and effective Targeted Lung Health Check service, identifying asymptomatic individuals and providing early diagnosis of lung cancer and other lung diseases.

Main Duties

The Lung Cancer Screening Programme aims to enable early detection of lung cancer, saving lives. The targeted lung health check has been implemented in areas with high disease prevalence, allowing for significant impact through early-stage lung cancer recognition and curative treatment.

Job Responsibilities

This role will involve providing virtual and face-to-face nurse-led TLHC clinics, assessing patients against set risk criteria, and referring high-risk patients for Low-Dose CT scans. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent nursing skills in respiratory assessment and provide smoking cessation advice as part of the lung health check.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing health promotion integral to the delivery of lung health checks.
  • Identifying and acting on potential safeguarding concerns.
  • Maintaining IRMER accreditation for Low-Dose CT referrals.
  • Attaining and maintaining ARTP accreditation level for spirometry.
  • Working autonomously and engaging with the wider TLHC teams as needed.
  • Supporting the Team Lead with clinical administration duties.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a first-level registered nurse with a minimum of two years' experience in respiratory nursing. They will have excellent communication skills, good IT skills, and a clean driving license. The successful candidate will also be willing to undertake further training to support professional development and meet the bespoke needs of the service.
