Job Description

At Total Training Provision, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Functional Skills Coach to join our team. As a Functional Skills Coach, you will play a vital role in supporting the development and progression of our learners on apprenticeship programmes with their Functional Skills aims.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching and Coaching: Deliver high-quality teaching and coaching to learners, using a blended learning approach to ensure effective and engaging training.
  • Caseload Management: Manage a caseload of apprenticeship learners, identified by the Operations Manager and Team Leader for Functional Skills, as requiring specialised and focussed support in English and maths.
  • Diagnostic Assessments: Use the Diagnostic Assessment material to assess levels of competency within maths and English, and develop individualised training plans to support learners' progress.
  • Progress Monitoring: Conduct regular teaching and learning visits to ensure continuous development, progression, and achievement of learners allocated on the caseload.
  • Support and Guidance: Provide support and guidance to learners who find Maths and English the most challenging, and work with them to develop strategies to overcome these challenges.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all teaching and learning activities are delivered in line with Ofsted, QCF, and company regulations, and that portfolios and learner files satisfy awarding body criteria.
Essential Criteria:
  • Qualifications: Hold relevant assessing and teaching qualifications, such as a teaching qualification and a qualification in assessing.
  • Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with learners, managers, staff, and stakeholders.
  • IT Skills: Have strong IT skills and confidence in using a range of IT tools, including e-portfolio systems and learner management systems.
  • Time Management: Demonstrate excellent time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage a caseload of learners and meet deadlines.
