We are seeking a skilled Archival Assistant to join our team at Suffolk County Council. This permanent role offers an annual salary of £24,404 (pro rata) and the opportunity to work with important historical records.

The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, be able to handle and transport archive materials safely, and have a keen interest in history or archival work.

Suffolk Archives is a small, flexible team passionate about sharing Suffolk's local history and heritage with a wider audience. As an Archival Assistant, you will work as part of our Operations Team providing public access to collections housed at The Hold in Ipswich.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet and assist customers with enquiries, offering knowledgeable support regarding our archives and services.
  • Retrieve and produce archive materials from strong rooms for customer use.
  • Maintain organised records and contribute to accurate archive inventories.
