**Your role and responsibilities**

The main purpose of your role will be to help identify and preserve archive and printed materials relating to the history of Suffolk. These will be added to the already rich collections held by Suffolk Archives. You will develop those collections in line with our collections development policy.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful, accredited archive service. The role will also offer you opportunities to share your enthusiasm for the archives and inspire and engage diverse audiences of all ages to enjoy our collections. You will work alongside colleagues to deliver exhibitions and engagement programmes in our amazing new building, The Hold situated alongside the historic waterfront in Ipswich.

Our small county-wide team of Archivists will support you in learning about our collections and develop your knowledge of the history of Suffolk, both in person and remotely. You will also work closely with the front-of-house team of Archive Assistants and volunteers, with support from the Volunteer Co-ordinator, and members of staff from our partners at the University of Suffolk.

**You will need**

We are seeking a team player who is motivated to collaborate with others. Strong communication abilities allow you to effectively plan and prioritise work for yourself and volunteers on a daily and medium-term basis. Your cataloging skills and knowledge of relevant standards like the International Standard Archival Description (ISAD(G)) and International Standard Archival Authority Record (ISAAR(CPF)) equip you to index diverse collections. Additionally, your ability to negotiate and influence and your conciliation skills will help Suffolk Archives acquire archives on acceptable terms for all parties. We value your ability to lead interactive training sessions and deliver engaging presentations that inform and inspire various audiences. We would also prefer you have the following:

- Postgraduate Diploma/Master’s Degree in Archive Administration.
- Experience working with external partners and volunteers.
- Experience in digitisation, digital asset management system procedures, and project work***
