Job Title: Urology Cancer Navigator

The Urology Cancer Navigator will play a pivotal role in navigating and tracking Urology patients along their cancer pathway, coordinating all hospital appointments, investigations, and treatment, while identifying patients who may potentially breach national waiting times targets and Cancer Standards, taking appropriate positive action to negate this possibility.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Work effectively within the surgery division and directorates involved in the delivery of cancer services by providing high-quality person-centered care to patients on a cancer pathway.
  • Engage with and work alongside senior medical staff, nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, and partner organizations within the network across the patient journey.
  • Analyze problems and suggest suitable solutions, prioritize tasks, work to deadlines, and manage own time.
  • Develop effective negotiation and influencing skills, maintain confidentiality at all times, and work effectively in a team.
  • Adapt to change, have knowledge of all cancer waiting times targets, and be competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Requirements:
  • English and Maths GCSE Grade C and above or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level of demonstrable experience, plus additional short courses or training to diploma level or equivalent.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, self-motivated, and competent in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Awareness and knowledge of the dignity in care agenda, ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviors in line with the Trust framework, motivated, and resourceful.
  • Experience with ULHT 'in-house' computer systems, i.e., Somerset, Medway, Cris, Web v.
Specific Requirements:
  • Flexibility attitude and approach to work, ability to deal with emotional situations, prioritize, and work under pressure.
  • Ability to travel independently to enable work anywhere within the ULHT area when required, demonstrates a person-centered approach to care, physically able to access and function in a variety of locations, and professional appearance.
  • Good understanding of the national drivers for cancer within the NHS.
