Deputy Ward Manager

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Adult Nurse to join our team as a Deputy Ward Manager on Waddington Unit, a 26-bedded haematology and oncology ward. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a fast-paced admission unit, providing holistic palliative care to end-of-life patients, and managing conditions and side effects associated with cancer, curative and palliative chemotherapy, and radiotherapy.
Main DutiesThe role involves working as an autonomous practitioner, with responsibilities including:
- Managing patients with complex conditions, such as neutropenic sepsis, superior vena cava obstruction, spinal cord compression, pain management, and hypercalcemia.
- Administering immunoglobulins and all blood products.
- Developing knowledge and skills in the administration of cytotoxic chemotherapy and assisting with intrathecal chemotherapy following appropriate training.
- Working with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care.

Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive post-registration experience in oncology and haematology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to demonstrate a flexible approach to the provision of holistic, clinically effective care.
- Evidence of assessing and supervising junior staff.
- Awareness and knowledge of the dignity in care agenda.
