About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Children's Nurse to join our team at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Children's Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to children and young people in our wards and departments.

You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care, ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care and support. You will also be responsible for providing education and training to our staff and patients, and for contributing to the development of our nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care in the Peri-Operative environment.
  • Provide effective support to patients and carers throughout their care pathway.
  • Abide by Trust policies and procedures.
  • Support and deputise for the nurse in charge in their absence.
  • Act as patient advocate in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code / Health and Care Professions Council standards of conduct, performance, and ethics.
Person Specification
  • Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of ongoing professional development.
  • Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context.
  • Has understanding / experience of adult / child safeguarding.
  • Meets Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements for mentorship if relevant to role.
  • NMC registration.
  • Diploma/Degree in Nursing (completed or willingness to undertake) or equivalent experience.
