Nurse Specialist (Children's Community Nurse)

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled and dedicated Children's Community Nursing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based care to children and young people with complex health needs and technical dependencies in their own environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assess and plan care for an allocated caseload, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver effective support and interventions.
  • Manage your own caseload, working independently and as part of a team, with clinical supervision and guidance.
  • Facilitate early discharge from hospital and deliver care in the child's own environment, promoting physical and emotional well-being.
  • Teach qualified and unqualified staff and carers clinical procedures, assessing competence in relation to individual children.

Person Specification:

  • Meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements for mentorship.
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant NHS policy and project-specific policy context.
  • Experience of adult/child safeguarding.

Requirements:

  • Current driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
  • Effective report writing skills and ability to contribute to education and training programmes.
  • Current NMC registration and degree in a health-related subject.
