At NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, we are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Scientist to join our team in the Scottish Microbiology Laboratories (SMiRL) at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering a comprehensive range of highly specialised phenotypic and molecular techniques for use with the Scottish Microbiology Reference Laboratory (SMiRL), Glasgow.

This is a full-time post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Friday, 8.45am-17.00pm.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver highly specialised phenotypic and molecular techniques for use with the Scottish Microbiology Reference Laboratory (SMiRL), Glasgow.
  • Contribute to the quality control of the laboratories' phenotypic and molecular methods and carry out service development of methods as required.
  • Contribute to molecular developments projects within the department, including the use of Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS).
  • Prepare and review reports, including routine reporting of reference laboratory results and preparation of other reports on a regular basis.

Requirements:

  • HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, autonomously, and unsupervised.
  • Leadership skills and ability to delegate, review, and organise the work of staff.
