Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Community Support Specialist to join our team at Two Saints. As a Community Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing person-centred support to our clients, empowering them to maintain their existing tenancies and gain the life skills they require to move on to more independent living.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of clients, working with them on a one-to-one basis to identify their needs and develop client needs assessments and risk management plans.
  • Carry out housing management duties, including collecting service charges at various locations.
  • Cover Health and Safety duties at various locations.
  • Support clients in moving on from accommodation services to suitable options.
  • MEDIATE and negotiate with existing housing providers to prevent homelessness.
  • Provide advice on housing, welfare benefits, rent deposits, and household goods via various schemes.
  • Assist clients with practicalities of moving to new accommodation, such as contacting energy suppliers.
  • Encourage individuals to develop practical skills, such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework, laundry, personal health, and hygiene.
  • Conduct drop-in sessions at designated locations.
  • Liaise with colleges, training agencies, and employers to help clients access education, find work, or maintain benefit entitlement.
  • Advise clients on appropriate agencies to contact for debt and housing issues.
  • Travel and cover services across a geographical patch as required.

Requirements

  • Clear verbal and written English.
  • Good IT and keyboard skills.
  • Polite, assertive manner, and ability to self-motivate.
  • Passion for working in a client/customer-facing role.
  • Knowledge of the benefits system and tenancy legislation.
  • Interest and genuine concern for homelessness and related issues.
  • Knowledge of voluntary and statutory agencies.
  • Flexible approach to the role.
  • A full driver's licence and access to your own vehicle is essential for this role.
