About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead our dynamic Erith operating region, covering six sites with approximately 3,000 Customer Service Team Members (van drivers) and managing a fleet of around 1,500 vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Inspire: Drive success across a large and complex delivery network, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Develop and Implement Strategies: Create regional strategies that align with business objectives and customer expectations, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Manage and Develop Teams: Integrate new managers into your team, focusing on talent development and performance management.
  • Monitor and Improve KPIs: Analyze and improve key performance indicators (KPIs), focusing on fleet optimisation, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage Complexities: Oversee the complexities of large-scale delivery logistics, ensuring seamless execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  • Manage Budgets and Resources: Manage budgets, control costs, and optimise resources to meet financial targets.
  • Ensure Health and Safety: Ensure that health and safety standards are consistently exceeded across all sites.
About You

We are looking for an experienced leader with a proven track record in managing large-scale operations. To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in Managing High-Volume Delivery Operations: Proven experience in managing high-volume delivery operations with large fleets and large headcounts in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong Commercial Background: A strong commercial background, ideally with multi-retailer exposure.
  • Improving Customer and Employee Experiences: Proven experience in improving customer and employee experiences while driving operational metrics.
  • Stakeholder Management and Team Development: Demonstrated success in stakeholder management, team development, and performance management.
  • Complexity Management: Ability to handle the complexity of shift work and on-call requirements.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills and a track record of improving KPIs through strategic thinking.
  • Fleet Management and Logistics Knowledge: Knowledge of fleet management, distribution logistics, and operational compliance.
  • Self-Development: Proven track record of self-development.
  • Driving Licence and CPC Qualification: A current UK Driving Licence (minimum three years) with 3 points or less and CPC international qualification.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Logistics Systems: Proficiency in MS Office and relevant fleet management or logistics systems.
