We are seeking an ambitious Senior Software Development Engineer to join our team at UKAEA Special Techniques Group. This is a challenging role that will give you the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research and development projects.

In this position, you will be responsible for developing high-quality software solutions to support our research activities. You will work closely with our scientists and engineers to understand their software needs and provide innovative solutions.

You will have the opportunity to work on various projects, including plasma physics, engineering simulation, data analysis, and high-performance computing. Our SecDevOps/MLOps capabilities are expanding, and you will have the chance to contribute to this area by leveraging novel technologies and good industry practices.

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will also be responsible for contributing to improving software development practices across the organisation. This may involve giving talks, writing guidance and examples, or helping to run events within our software engineering community.

We welcome applications from individuals who have a degree in a relevant subject such as Physics, Maths, Engineering or Computer Science. You should have experience of developing working, understandable software in more than one programming language and a strong understanding of software design principles. Familiarity with Linux operating systems and the command line is also essential.

We offer a competitive salary package of £32,729 plus excellent benefits, including a defined benefit pension scheme, corporate bonus scheme up to 7%, and flexible working options. As a member of our graduate scheme, you will spend 80% of your time developing your general work-related skills and professional qualifications, and 20% dedicated to graduate training and development.
