Night Shift Transport Manager - A Key Role Within Our Team

About the position

This is a critical role that requires effective management of drivers, vehicles, and routes in accordance with the company's performance indicators and legal requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all routes are dispatched and arranging cover for absences or overloads as needed. They will also work closely with the Night Operations team to create a cohesive team that achieves all targets.

Shift Pattern - 5 nights out of 6, Sunday to Friday, with a start time of 10:30pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Route Management: Dispatch all routes and arrange cover as necessary.
  • Manage departure times to meet the company's OTIF targets.
  • Complete the vehicle sheet, including department times and driver information.
  • Ensure vehicles are loaded correctly.
  • Administer the driver app.
  • Issue tablets and log information on the system.
  • Update spreadsheets with route details and other relevant information.

Team Management

  • Oversee office duties during the shift, including data logging and vehicle compliance.
  • Complete the driver register, ensuring all drivers arrive on time.
  • Check daily that drivers' uniforms are compliant.
  • Complete the handover with the Day team and ensure all reports and information are passed over.
  • Manage the Night Office, including printing invoices and assigning routes.

Health and Safety

  • Enforce all Health and Safety requirements and ensure compliance with legislation.

Compliance

  • Complete driving licence checks, including weekly spot checks.
  • Assist with vehicle defects and VOR.
  • Ensure collection weights are within compliance.
  • Ensure vehicle routes are compliant.
  • Follow the Manage Process Procedure.

Requirements

  • HGV classification is desirable.
  • Current DQC CPC qualification is desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills using KPI dashboards.
  • Competent in GPS and route manifests.
  • Experience working with paperless deliveries.
  • Passionate about training and developing others.
  • Organised with a good attention to detail.
  • Flexible and professional approach.
  • A team player with a strong 'can do' attitude.
