About the Role

As a Senior Ophthalmic Nurse Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our department, meeting national and organisational targets while providing clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of ophthalmic practitioners, overseeing assessments, examinations, diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient discharge or referral when necessary.
  • Collaborate with consultants, lead nurses, and senior sisters to drive the development of ophthalmology services, enhancing patient care and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, providing guidance and supervision to promote their growth and professional development.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Nursing and Registered NMC level 1.
  • Significant years of post-registration experience, preferably in ophthalmic care at Band 5.
  • Recent evidence of mentorship and leadership skills.
Benefits
