Technical Artist Opportunity at World Makers

World Makers, a leading game development studio based in the UK, is seeking a skilled Technical Artist to contribute to the creation of immersive gaming experiences. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate closely with art, design, and engineering teams to develop and implement pipelines, materials, and visual effects that support the creation of high-quality game worlds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement visual effects and procedural art workflows that meet design expectations and are optimized for performance and quality.
  • Develop and maintain tools and scripts that streamline the creation and implementation of art assets, animations, and visual effects.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues related to art asset creation, rendering, and optimization.
  • Create complex, well-optimized materials and shaders for high-value game characters, props, and environments.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in art and technology and proactively identify opportunities for improving the visual quality and performance of our games.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience as a Technical Artist in the video game industry.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard game art tools (Houdini, Substance, Blender, Maya).
  • Strong understanding of Unreal Engine and the art creation process, including modeling, texturing, lighting, and particle effects.
  • Proficiency in programming in C++ and common shader programming languages.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently on assigned tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical team members.
