About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatric Medicine Consultant to join our team at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and leading the development of geriatric services across our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultant input to 10-12 beds in a 24-bedded Care of the Elderly ward, working closely with other consultant colleagues and junior doctors.
  • Attend ward Board Rounds to discuss patient management and discharge plans, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Lead outpatient clinics and specialty clinics, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care and improving patient outcomes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the functioning of the department, aligning with our operational policy and strategic plan.
  • Participate in an acute medical on-call rota, providing prospective cover and post-take ward rounds, ensuring continuity of care and patient safety.

Requirements
  • Full GMC registration and license to practice.
  • MRCP or equivalent qualification.
  • CCT or equivalent in Geriatric and General Medicine, or CESR.
  • Experience in general and geriatric medicine, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Experience in frailty, stroke, community geriatrics, or other subspecialties is desirable.
  • Experience of clinical audit, teaching, and leadership is essential.
