Position Overview

We are pleased to announce the availability of two Senior Consultant positions in Emergency Medicine within our esteemed healthcare organization.

The Emergency Medicine department has experienced significant advancements, evolving into a modern service dedicated to delivering exceptional emergency care. We seek Consultants who possess vision, ambition, and the drive to collaborate with our existing team to enhance departmental operations.

This role is situated within a rapidly growing and strategically vital hospital, which is part of a larger network of healthcare facilities. Our organization is recognized as one of the largest healthcare providers in the region, ensuring comprehensive care across various services.

Key Responsibilities

The department guarantees 24-hour coverage by a senior decision-maker, with support from Specialty doctors and Clinical Fellows.

Currently, the Emergency Department provides Consultant coverage from 8 AM to 11 PM.

We implement an Emergency Physician in Charge (EPIC) model, where the EPIC oversees the department alongside the nursing team, adhering to established operational procedures. Consultants are expected to deliver exemplary leadership and direction, working closely with various stakeholders to ensure patient safety and effective decision-making.

Additional responsibilities include engaging in non-Medical Team Leader sessions, which involve direct patient care and administrative duties focused on patient safety and quality assurance.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Completion of CCT or equivalent (confirmation required)
  • Full registration with the relevant medical authority
  • FRCEM qualification
  • Current certification in ATLS, ALS, APLS, or equivalent

Desirable

  • Subspecialty training in Pediatrics or Prehospital Emergency Medicine
  • Instructor status in ALS, ATLS, APLS, or equivalents
  • Other relevant postgraduate qualifications

Leadership and Experience

Essential

  • Substantial experience in UK Emergency Medicine at a senior level
  • Ability to provide leadership and supervision in the Emergency Department
  • Demonstrated senior clinical skills in Emergency Medicine

Desirable

  • Evidence of training in leadership and human factors

Clinical Governance

Essential

  • Experience in clinical governance activities
  • Understanding of patient safety and risk management
  • Experience in audit and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ability to engage in relevant project work
