About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team at the Veterinary Medicines Directorate as a Distribution and Supply Chain Inspector. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the compliance of veterinary-only wholesale dealers, feed business operators, and veterinary medicines retailers with the Veterinary Medicines Regulations (VMR).
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections to verify that businesses are adhering to the VMR, taking corrective action and providing guidance and solutions to address any issues.
- Plan, organize, and manage your work to ensure the successful delivery of our risk-based inspection program, within budget and timeframe.
- Provide high-quality service, including advice on compliance, to businesses inspected by the DSC, such as wholesale dealers, feed business operators, veterinary practice premises, and SQP retailers.
- Ensure infringements of the VMR are handled in accordance with our published Enforcement Policy.
- Investigate issues related to residue violations.
- Comply with ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO information security standards, as well as GDPR and record management requirements.
- Act corporately, embodying and championing the corporate objectives set by the VMD.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant science or a minimum of 2 years of experience working within the animal health and/or animal feed industries.
- Able to drive and possess a Full UK Driving license.
- Confident communication and writing skills.
- Ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders in technical and non-technical environments.
- Organized and able to prioritize workload in a dynamic and challenging environment.
- Computer literacy with MS Office.
Licenses and Behaviours
- Must possess a full, clean driving license, as the role requires traveling to remote areas, such as farms, and the use of public transport is not a viable option.
