Job Title: Economic Policy Manager

We are seeking an experienced Economic Policy Manager to join our team at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI). As a key member of our Economic Policy team, you will play a critical role in shaping the CBI's policy positions and influencing government decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the CBI's policy positions on fiscal events, including Budgets, Autumn Statements, and Spending Reviews.
  • Lead the CBI's submissions to the Chancellor, working closely with policy advisors and directors across the policy directorate.
  • Project manage the fiscal events process, ensuring a pipeline of new and innovative CBI policy recommendations.
  • Oversee the CBI's microeconomic analysis function, ensuring policy positions are grounded in economic theory and well-evidenced.
Requirements:
  • A broad awareness of the policy and political landscape, with the ability to pick up a more detailed understanding while in post.
  • Experience of project or programme management in any setting.
  • A good foundation in economics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to give clear direction.
  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to take a step back and look at policy asks across key areas.
  • Persuasive influencing and negotiating skills, with the ability to reach compromise and solutions with stakeholders.
