About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Economic Policy Manager to join our team at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI). As a key member of our Economic Policy team, you will play a critical role in shaping the CBI's policy positions and influencing government decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of the CBI's policy positions on fiscal events, including Budgets, Autumn Statements, and Spending Reviews.
  • Project manage the fiscal events process, ensuring a pipeline of new and innovative policy recommendations.
  • Oversee the CBI's microeconomic analysis function to ensure policy positions are grounded in economic theory and well-evidenced.
  • Draft clear and compelling CBI submissions to the Chancellor, working closely with policy teams and directors.
  • Build strong relationships with Treasury officials and lobby for CBI policy asks.
  • Communicate the work and role of the Economic Policy team internally and externally.
Requirements
  • A broad awareness of the policy and political landscape and fiscal context.
  • Experience of project or programme management in any setting.
  • A good foundation in economics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to take a step back and look at policy asks across key areas.
  • Persuasive influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to develop strong relationships within and beyond the CBI.
